Joshua E. Guzman
Director of Bands
Mr. Joshua E. Guzman is the Director of Bands at Hialeah Gardens High School. He was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico but raised in Miami, Florida. Mr. Guzman graduated from Florida International University with a Bachelor of Music.
Mr. Guzman began his teaching career in 2017 at Cypress Bay High School, where he taught the woodwind section for the Marching Band. That year the Marching Band made it to the FMBC state finals finishing in the top 5 for the state. From there, Mr. Guzman has had the opportunity to work with several competitive Band Programs (Cooper City H.S, Flanagan H.S, FIU World Winds, Stryke Wynds, and more) across the state as a woodwind specialist and Music Caption Head/Consultant. Many of these programs have been WGI & FMBC Finalists under the instruction of Mr. Guzman. In his tenure as Director of Bands at Hialeah Gardens High School, the marching band went on to earn class 2A second runner-up (2021) and class 2A State Champion (2022) at the FMBC State competition.
In addition to Mr. Guzman’s musical experience and accolades, he proudly served our country in the U.S. Army as a member of the 13th Army Band. He was the Principal Saxophonist for the Concert Band and performed with other musical ensembles within the Army Band. Mr. Guzman has traveled around the world with the Army Band performing in countries such as Germany. Besides the Army Band, Mr. Guzman was a member of the South Florida Army Honor Guard where he performed Military Funeral Honors for over 1,500 deceased veterans.
Mr. Guzman currently resides in Miami, FL. He is very excited to further educate the students at Hialeah Gardens High School and give his students experiences and memories that will last a life time.
